Student Leadership

The purpose of Student Council is to promote goodwill; to provide a forum of discussion among students, Faculty, and administration; coordinate affairs of student groups, and to promote an appreciation of and concern for the academic, social, and athletic qualities of the Academy. We encourage our Student Council to be a voice for our student body and empower them to start new initiatives on-campus. 

The primary role of Dorm Prefects is to mentor students in the dorms and to model exemplary behavior in all aspects of student life. Each dorm on campus will be assigned at least one Prefect to help facilitate life in the dorms. The Prefects’ duty is to assist their dorm parents in handling the routine day-to-day management of the dorm. Prefects also help ensure that an atmosphere conducive to study prevails and may guide other students in their studies and social life. Prefects also take on the responsibility of helping new students adjust to boarding life at Grand River Academy.

The purpose of the Honor Council is to review cases of violations of the Honor Code and to make recommendations for corrective behavior to the Head of School. The members of the Honor Council will be expected to model behavior consistent with the Grand River Academy Honor Code. They are responsible for creating and maintaining accountability, fairness, and integrity amongst our student body.
